Cavotec MoorMaster (New Zealand)

September 2014 – April 2017

Cavotec is the home of MoorMaster™, an innovative vacuum-based mooring system. The company also supplies Alternative Maritime Power (AMP) systems, and a comprehensive range of staple port equipment, including motorised cable reels, marine propulsion slip ring columns, electrical power connectors, power chains, and crane controllers.

This role was a key part of the Engineering Team and wider company, contributing to engineering and project management that enabled the company to achieve its operational and strategic objectives.

Leadership                                 

Brought together a group of disparate engineers as one team, working to produce quality, repeatable, and structured products.

Agile Development

Instigated a lightweight Agile Development methodology for internal project work.

Project Management

Internal Project Management for Controls Teams HMI redesign and new architecture for scale.

Team Management

Responsible for coaching, mentoring and growing 8 to 12 Controls and Commissioning Engineers.

Strategic Management

Identified and kicked-off a project to create a common architecture for all MoorMaster Control systems, providing scalability.

Software

Developed a Web based tool to help the sales force provide customers with a ‘cookie-cutter’ solution for the HMI component of a system. 

Travel/Customer Liaison Travelled to Norway, Denmark and Italy to assist in commissioning two MoorMaster installations and Factory Acceptance testing at the Cavotec Factory in Milan. Represented MoorMaster with an important Helsinki client.

Documentation Created a meaningful repository and framework for PLC code and MoorMaster standard documentation for Electrical and Controls, as well as Processes and integrating into JIRA.
